From the city once described as the next Ibiza, the very same place that gave rise to Roger Goode (of ‘In the Beginning’ fame) comes a totally new wave of young talent and riding the crest high above the rest is Nick Supply. 20 year old youngblood DJ and producer Nick Supply raised eyebrows and stirred massive hype storming onto the global scene at 17 with his fresh, ass shaking, addictive brand of bouncy fidget house. Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa with a slew of sick! remixes for Bart B. More, Foamo, Aston Shuffle, Stupid Fresh, Junior Frank and Tony Flexx amongst others, and tracks signed to Vacation Records, Cubism, Secure Recordings, Be Yourself, Velvet Disco, Static Jack, Odyssey US and Casual Kickback, 2008 seems earmarked as “The Year of the Newcomer”. With humble beginnings manning the decks at school socials and neighbourhood house parties at only 14, Nick’s love affair with electronic music began almost instantaneously. But it was his later foray into the realm of production which caused the real stir. Nick’s debut release at only 17 was a remix of Lenny Fontana & Byron Stingily's 2005 anthem, 'I'll Give You'. Lauded by imprint, Velvet Disco as “the young Capetonian electro wonderkid”, Nick stepped up to tweak this super song turning it into a full throttle, filthy, party stomper! More recently Nick’s immensely popular re-rub of Foamo’s stonking, bass-led House track, “Movin’ It Over Here”, championed by Kissy Sell Out on his Radio 1 show was labeled “gem of the remix package”. Reminiscent of Switch (aka Dave Taylor’s) jackin’ house sound Nick’s unique brand of filthy audio nastiness comes laced with live-sounding, drawn out drums and sub heavy basslines. Upon enquiry he grins broadly and proclaims his sound as, “bass driven Fidget House producing a jaw locking facial expression never seen before!”. Rare talent, prolific, well produced beats, energetic DJ sets and an infectious personality have quickly earned Nick Supply massive respect and a growing, extremely loyal fan base both in South Africa as well as across the globe. Couple that with heavy support from the likes of Bart B More, Aston Shuffle, Bass Kleph, Stupid Fresh, Lee Mortimer, the Bulgarian, Hi-Jack, Foamo, Troydon and Kelevra amongst others and the resultant resounding stamp of industry approval for the dirty, wonky “Supply” sound is undeniable! 2007/8 has seen Nick in high demand for gigs in Cape Town not to mention across the rest of South Africa. Most notable has been SA’s 10 000-strong outdoor dance event H2O ft. Paul van Dyk and H2O Africa this past October, Ministry of Sound in CT and for events such as Electric Circus, Co.Funk, Thump, Looney Tunez, The Big Bash, Sound Factory, Anything Goes and nightclubs countrywide including Truth, Groove Bar, Sudada, Suede, Cappello’s, Tempo’s, The Bang Bang Club, FTV, the Underground Sound Boutique, Velvet, Karma Lounge, Wadda, Raffles in Umhlanga, 52 Parliament in PE.. and the list goes on!
