About Beat-Route

Beat-Route is a classic, traditional swing jazz combo. The band has, over its 7 years, developed an extensive repertoire of originals, standards, grooves, Latin, Afro, popular and show tunes executed with professional style in the jazz idiom.

Beat-Route has built a firm reputation in Durban and further afield, featuring regularly at corporate functions, parties, weddings, fairs, restaurants and on the local jazz circuit.

The band also augments adding vocals/sax/keys as and when the need allows.

We have also played regularly at restaurants The Docklands (Signature Life Brand)Cru Food & Wine Bar Hillcrest, BBB, Upper Deck uShaka Marine World, KZNSA, St Tropez, Zulu Jazz Lounge, Manna (now Market), Cafe Vaka Mata, Gateway Palm Court, Society, Kings Club, Vanille Cafe, Marco Paulo's, Spiga d'Ora, The Grind Cafe, Mount Edgecombe Country Estate Club house and Pani Dam Function Venue, Primi Plantation, Mozambik, The Dish, Luigis Umhlanga, Bangkok wok, Max Fashion institute and were one of the 2008 main feature established band at the Suncoast month end jazz gigs ( and were again on the 26th July 09 "probably the best gig in three years at Suncoast" -Gisele Turner event organizer and jazz/theater columnist, "..the audience stuck out the full gig despite the cold and wind picking up!"). We have also featured at the Red Door in Pmb for the Folk Club 08 and 09 and twice in 09 at the Wilsons Wharf Blues Revival Evenings, and Featured in Ballito for the Prawn and Jazz Festival '10.
